## What it requires
AMLR Art. 81(1) requires each FIU to report without undue delay to the EPPO the results of its analyses and other relevant information where it suspects money laundering or related criminal activity within the EPPO's competence under Regulation (EU) 2017/1939; AMLA must develop technical standards on the reporting format by 10 July 2026. Art. 81(2) requires FIUs to respond in a timely manner to EPPO information requests on the same matters. Art. 81(3) permits FIUs and the EPPO to exchange strategic-analysis results, including typologies and risk indicators.
## Swiss position
Switzerland is not an EU member state and has no EPPO membership or counterpart body, so no domestic provision performs this function. MROS, the Swiss FIU, has a general statutory gateway for exchanging information with foreign counterpart FIUs (GwG Art. 30) and, separately, for cooperating with foreign criminal-prosecution authorities (GwG Art. 32), but neither is an EPPO-cooperation duty. No Swiss provision is mapped to this article.
## Key divergences
This is a structural non-equivalence rather than a gap in Swiss AML law: the EPPO is a Union prosecutorial body created by Regulation (EU) 2017/1939, and Switzerland, outside the EU, is not a party to it and has no analogous institution to receive or respond to such reports. The FATF keying was corrected from R.40 to R.2/R.29 for this reason: R.40 concerns cooperation with foreign counterparts, but the EPPO is not a foreign FIU or a foreign counterpart authority in that sense - it is a Union body exercising prosecutorial competence, which sits closer to the domestic-cooperation and FIU-function recommendations. MROS's foreign-FIU cooperation channel serves a different purpose and a different counterparty type, and is not treated here as answering this article.
## Effective dates
